A Dog Named Valor - Synopsis
This is a true story about two abandoned puppies that are rescued from impending danger. Their rescuers want to help them become adoptable and find permanent loving homes. By giving the puppies a bath, good food and loving tender care, the rescuers expected to accomplish their mission in only a few days. They were wrong. They hadn’t reckoned on the fear factor. What more could they do? Would housebreaking, and / or neutering and / or obedience training be needed in order for the puppies to receive a wonderful new home?
Choices are made by the puppies, as well as the rescuers, and all choices have consequences. Life is full of lessons. Some lessons are enthusiastically sought after, while others come as surprises. Lessons can be easy and fun or hard, making us wish we had played hooky from class that day. We all enjoy the fun times, but when the unexpected, undesired happens, then what do you do?
About Joan Quimby
Joan Quimby lived in the small town of Epsom, New Hampshire, until she moved to Florida in 1978. It was in Concord, the capital city, where she went to high school, college, and worked for the state. Concord was also the city where she took her first dog obedience training lessons. She enjoyed working with dogs so much that ten years later she returned to the same dog school in Concord as the instructor. During that ten-year period, she started Jolene Kennels, where she raised and trained German Shepherds for competition in the breed and obedience rings. Connected with the kennel was a dog obedience training school for dogs of various ancestries. Since moving to Florida she works full time for a Christian publishing company and part time as a dog obedience instructor. Sharing the words and deeds of Jesus has always been her passion, and on March 11, 2006, she received her ministerial credentials from the City of Light / Hunter Ministries in Kingwood, Texas. She combines her love of people and her love of dogs while ministering with her registered therapy dog, Jakayla, in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and libraries, as well as other places.
