Synopsis

The Kekeenowin of the Wimachtendienk-Synopsis
The history of the Order of the Arrow (Wimachtendienk) has been written several times over the years, but never before through the eyes of the ceremonies and rituals that are so important. This book shares with the reader not only the history of this very special Boy Scout program, but also the complete texts of all known ceremonies used from 1915 through 1948. Some incredible, never before seen, ceremonial scripts are presented with full background and proof of their veracity. The book is filled with pictures and stories that date back to earliest years on Treasure Island and in the Philadelphia area which was the birth place of the Order of the Arrow in 1915.

This book is a must for any youth or adult who has ever been a ceremonialist in the Order of the Arrow!

About Dr. Terry Grove

In 1951 Terry Grove, at the age of nine, joined Cub Scouting and earned the Arrow of Light. During his years in Boy Scouting he traveled to Philmont, served on the Order of the Arrow Service Corps at the 1960 National Jamboree and earned the God and Country Award. Terry earned the Eagle Scout Award in 1956.

As an adult he has been accorded the God and Service award, District Award of Merit, and the Silver Beaver. He is a Vigil Honor member in the Order of the Arrow and a recipient of the Order’s Founders Award.

His interest in the collection and displaying of Boy Scout memorabilia began in 1981 while serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster for the Thomas A. Edison Council’s National Jamboree contingent. This initial interest was transformed into a love for the research of Eagle Scout materials from which he has written this book.

He has had several articles published in collector magazines. His complete Eagle Scout Award display was on view at the Boy Scout National Museum in Irving, Texas from January to May 2003 and at the 2005 National Jamboree.

In 2001 he received the first Scouting Memorabilia Distinguished Service Award from the International Scout Collectors Association (ISCA) for his work.

Terry is a graduate of Juniata College, Huntingdon, Pa. and Bethany Theological Seminary, Oakbrook, Il., where he graduated with a Masters of Divinity degree and later a Doctor of Ministry degree. He is married and has two children. His son Scott is an Eagle Scout. Terry is the minister of the Altamonte Chapel, UCC in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
